William E. Harris is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Adapt of America and Harris Logic, Inc.
Adapt was founded in Missouri to fill the gaps in services available to seriously mentally ill persons. After serving a three year term as Deputy Commissioner of Community Services for the State of Missouri and witnessing the effects of the institutionalization of developmentally disabled and mentally ill persons, Mr. Harris began the development of alternative community driven behavioral health care models. Subsequently, Mr. Harris founded Adapt of Missouri in 1982; Adapt of Texas in 1986 and Adapt of Illinois in 1992. All of the Adapt companies share the mission to provide services to persons with mental illness for whom traditional methods of treatment and rehabilitation have not been sufficient.
Prior to his interests in social work, Mr. Harris was an engineer for eleven years with companies such as General Dynamics, Texas Instruments and Westinghouse.
This background was the foundation for the development of Harrislogic, Inc. (HLI) a behavioral health technology solutions company, in 1997. Mr. Harris believed that information systems could support clinical programs rather than just bill for clinical services. Utilizing the power of information, a staff could enrich their understanding of their clinical environment, improve their clinical decisions and provide real-time evaluation of their clinical efforts.
Mr. Harris holds a Masters in Social Work from the University of Arkansas.
