Skills Training & Development
Training for adults and children to address severe & persistent mental illness &
symptom-related problems that interfere with the individual's functioning & living, working, & learning environment; provides opportunities for the individual to acquire & improve skills needed to
function as appropriately & independently as possible in the community; & facilitates the individual's community integration & increases his/her community tenure. Includes teaching the following skills:
- identifying & utilizing community resources & informal supports;
- identifying & utilizing acceptable leisure time activities;
- independent living skills;
- managing daily responsibilities;
- communication skills;
- pro-social skills;
- problem-solving skills;
- assertiveness skills;
- social skills;
- stress reduction;
- anger management skills; and
- managing the symptoms of mental illness & to recognize & modify unreasonable beliefs, thoughts, & expectations.
