Recovery Statement
Recovery is a continual journey of growth based on individual choices.
Consumers and Adapt will work in partnership in an environment of hope that will support people in realizing their dreams.
A partnership and contractual arrangement between Adapt of Texas and Texas Mental
Health Consumers (TMHC) was developed. TMHC is a statewide advocacy group for Texans with mental illness. Through this partnership. TMHC will provide Peer Support Specialists to provide a wide range of
services at Adapt of Texas clinic. These services will include Consumer facilitated groups in each clinic, peer support at intake to gather social history and provide orientation. Peer Support
Specialists will also provide transitional services for people exiting the state hospital to their community.
A fundamental cultural shift is underway at Adapt of Texas. Expectations for staff include
the use of people first language, equity in power and relationships with the people we support, and developing treatment plans that are person directed. The focus is moving toward support and treatment based
on individual gifts and dreams. A world where the illness is not all of who a person is or purports to be. A world where motivation comes from taking steps to live your dream not just make it through the day.
