Adapt
has been providing psychiatric rehabilitation services to elderly people in Missouri nursing homes since October 1982. Adapt, initially called "Project Adapt", started as a pilot project
funded by the Department of Mental Health Community Placement Program, to reduce the recidivism rates of clients discharged from state hospitals to long term care facilities.
Adapt of Missouri (we changed our name to Adapt in April, 1985) expanded
its array of specialized services to include Supported Housing services for forensic clients on conditional release and a Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center (day treatment) for seriously mentally ill individuals.
Typically, clients referred to Adapt services in Missouri have psychiatric, chemical dependency and legal problems.
