Adapt contracted with the Illinois Department of Human Services in
1991 to provide nursing home based psychiatric rehabilitation programs. Adapt of Illinois began serving 184 clients targeted by the Illinois Geropsychiatric Initiative at four (4) different nursing homes. During the first 5 years of operation
Adapt services expanded in Illinois to include seven (7) nursing home programs across the state, and 223 clients.
The Pathways program, a collaborative effort to serve high need youth, was opened in 1997 as a
part of Adapt of Illinois. The growth and success of Pathways led to the incorporation of Adapt Community Alternatives in 2002. Adapt Community Alternatives now provides a variety of services to older adolescents and young adults.
